~ Chanel: Lipstick TV Ad ~

This is the Chanel TV advertisement for the product of lipstick. This is the most sexy ad I have ever seen amongst all Chanel commercials. Although this ad is sexy, it gives me a feeling of gentleness and beauty. Enjoy it!

~ Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld Video ~

This is a video clip of Karl Lagerfeld at work. This captures his work conditions for Chanel. I found him very fashionable and young in mind. He acts and looks like a young man. Maybe these are the unique characteristics of a designer.

This is another video clip of Karl Lagerfeld. This is actually a promotion trailer of Lagerfeld Confidential. I can see some of his beliefs and thoughts in this video. He thinks that fashion is ephemeral, dangerous and unfair. I agree with him as fashion industry is of the highest possibility and also risk amongst all industries.

~ Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld ~

Here are photoes of Karl Lagerfeld. He is so trendy and avant-garde. What I did not know before is that he always wears glasses and he likes wearing glasses. This is his style. And I like him wearing glasses. He looks handsome and cool with glasses.

~ Chanel: Karl Lagerfeld Background ~

Karl Lagerfeld is a German-born fashion designer and artist based in Paris, France. He has collaborated with on a variety of fashion and art related projects, most notably as head designer and creative director for the fashion house Chanel. Lagerfeld helms his own label fashion house, as well as the Italian house Fendi, both of which produce luxury fashion items (including perfumes and accessories).

He still wins plaudits for keeping Chanel fresh while preserving its classic appeal. He also designs for Italy's Fendi, and churns out collections under his own Lagerfeld labels. So potent is his name that last fall's launch of the bargain-priced "Karl Lagerfeld for H&M" apparel line for Sweden's Hennes & Mauritz touched off near-riots in stores from Manhattan to Milan. With his white ponytail, dark glasses, and black-and-white wardrobe, Lagerfeld is an enduring icon in an industry where superstardom is usually fleeting. Yet he recoils at the suggestion that he has become an institution. He thinks that the moment you stop and think about your past, the magic starts to fade. He strongly believes that change is the healthiest way to survive.

~Chanel background~

Chanel is a Parisian fashion brand created by Coco Chanel. Specializing in luxury goods including haute couture, ready-to-wear, handbags, perfumery, and cosmetics among others, the Chanel label has become one of the most recognized names in luxury and haute couture fashion. Now, the head designer of Chanel is Karl Lagerfeld.

The main competitors of la Maison de Chanel include Christian Dior and the LVMH group. The company has had many famous celebrities as spokesmodels, including Catherine Deneuve (1970s Chanel No. 5 spokesmodel), Nicole Kidman (early 2000s Chanel No. 5 spokesmodel), Audrey Tautou (current Chanel No.5 spokesmodel), and most famously, Marilyn Monroe (1950s Chanel No. 5 spokesmodel) pictured splashing herself with a bottle of Chanel No. 5. The image is certainly the most famous of all Chanel advertisements, and continues to be one of the most popular advertisement photos in the history of marketing, used in countless biographies, and still selling in large quantities as a poster and art piece using Marilyn Monroe as the model.

~Class Ex.No.4~

In this fashion boutique, the store structure design is mainly yellow and violet. Complimentary colour scheme is used with these 2 opposite colours.

Besides, the products are of different colours. They are mainly crimson, green and blue. Split complimentary colour scheme is seen in this way. Green and blue are the adjacent colours in the colour wheel while crimson is the opposite colour of them.

When these two complimentary colour schemes are displayed in this store, there is an amusing and eye-catching effect for the potential customers' view. This lead to something like double complimentary colour scheme.

~Class Ex.No.3~

This is the typical burberry pattern. It uses analogic colour scheme as khaki and red are adjacent to each other in the colour wheel. Also, the black and white colour gives achromatic.

This pattern uses monochromatic colour scheme. Red colour is used but the brightness and saturation are different to achieve different shades and tints.

Complimentary colour scheme is used in this pattern. Red is in the opposite side of the green-blue. Warm colour and cool colour are contrasting to each other.

Red is clearly visible in this pattern as it is a monochromatic colour scheme. It is interesting that the red colours are in different values. The higher value of red is quite dark while the lower value of red is quite light.

Analogic and complimentary colour scheme is used in the above pattern. The blue small squares, green big squares and yellow thin lines are of 3 adjacent colours. At the same time, the red thin line is complimentary to these 3 colours.

~Something about Coco Chanel~

Gabrielle Bonheur "Coco" Chanel was a fashion designer of Chanel. She was the founder of Chanel actually.

From her first millinery shop, opened in 1912, to the 1920s, Gabrielle 'Coco' Chanel rose to become one of the premier fashion designers in Paris, France. Replacing the corset with comfort and casual elegance, her fashion themes included simple suits and dresses, women's trousers, costume jewelry, perfume and textiles.

Coco Chanel claimed a birthdate of 1893 and a birthplace of Auvergne; she was actually born in 1883 in Saumur - her mother worked in the poorhouse where Gabrielle was born, and died when Gabrielle was only six, leaving her father with five children whom he promptly abandoned to the care of relatives.

She adopted the name Coco during a brief career as a cafe and concert singer 1905-1908. First a mistress of a wealthy military officer then of an English industrialist, Coco Chanel drew on the resources of these patrons in setting up a millinery shop in Paris in 1910, expanding to Deauville and Biarritz. The two men also helped her find customers among women of society, and her simple hats became popular.

Soon she was expanding to couture, working in jersey, a first in the French fashion world. By the 1920s, her fashion house had expanded considerably, and her chemise set a fashion trend with its "little boy" look. Her relaxed fashions, short skirts, and casual look were in sharp contrast to the corset fashions popular in the previous decades. Chanel herself dressed in mannish clothes, and adapted these more comfortable fashions which other women also found liberating.

In 1922 she introduced a perfume, Chanel No. 5, which became and remained popular, and remains a profitable product of Chanel's company. Pierre Wertheimer became her partner in the perfume business in 1924, and perhaps also her lover. Wertheimer owned 70% of the company; Coco Chanel received 10% and her friend Bader 20%. The Wertheimers continue to control the perfume company today.

She introduced her signature cardigan jacket in 1925 and signature "little black dress" in 1926. Most of her fashions had a staying power, and didn't change much from year to year -- or even generation to generation.

She briefly served as a nurse in World War I. Nazi occupation meant the fashion business in Paris was cut off for some years; Chanel's affair during World War II with a Nazi officer also resulted in some years of diminished popularity and an exile of sorts to Switzerland. In 1954 her comeback restored her to the first ranks of haute couture. Her natural, casual clothing including the Chanel suit once again caught the eye -- and purses -- of women. She introduced pea jackets and bell bottom pants for women. She was still working in 1971 when she died. Karl Lagerfeld has been chief designer of Chanel's fashion house since 1983.

In addition to her work with high fashion, she also designed stage costumes for such plays as Cocteau's Antigone (1923) and Oedipus Rex (1937) and film costumes for several movies, including Renoir's La Regle de Jeu. Katharine Hepburn starred in the 1969 Broadway musical Coco based on the life of Coco Chanel.

~ Chanel: Coco Chanel ~

Here are the photoes of Coco Chanel. She is the founder of Chanel. She is definitely the legend in fashion industry. She created innovative costume style for women and Chanel No.5 which is still the world's favourite perfume. She tried to make comfortable garments for women who suffered from corsets and unwieldy dresses. Chanel style is still popular, elegant and chic. But this great Coco Chanel had poor childhood. She had to do needlework to help her aunt rather than going to school. Regardless of adversity, she worked very hard to succeed, and finally she became one of the greatest designers.

I have found and made some excellent colour wheels which can explain what colour theories are and what colours actually are. I hope these colour wheels will be useful for my studies in this subject and in the future.
