~Class Ex.No.2~

In this collection, I used analogic colour scheme to create the first and second outfit on the left. The three adjacent colours are yellow, orange, red and violet, red, pink respectively. The similar colours make the outfit so harmonious in a uniform way.

For the third outfit, I used split complimentary colour scheme including violet, orange and yellow. Orange and yellow are adjacent to each other in the colour wheel while violet is on the opposite side of them.

For the fourth outfit, double complimentary colour scheme is used as green is complimentary to red while blue is complimentary to orange. Two contrasts give a fresh look to the outfit.

For the fifth outfit, green colour dominates the outfit, but red belt gives an emphasis as a whole. This is called complimentary colour scheme.

For the last outfit, analogic and complimentary colour scheme is used. The upper part is of analogic colours consisting of yellow, orange and red. However, the lower part is a complimentary colour of them - blue.

~ Gucci: Perfume Ad ~

In Hong Kong, I remembered that I have seen the perfume TV advertisements of Anna Sui and Hugo Boss in TVB Pearl. Therefore, I try to find if there are any Gucci Perfume TV ads. Finally, I find this. This TV ad is quite funny when the model is dancing with the background music. What I notice for the TV ads of perfumes is that many perfume ads tend to showcase the product(perfume) at the end of the ad. Anna Sui, Hugo Boss, Chanel......the same.

~ Chanel Fashion Show Video ~

Here come the CHANEL PARIS FASHION WEEK FALL 2008.

The Chanel show kicks-off with a series of boucle suits, a look the label is famous for. Ladies-Who-Lunch will have plenty of new styles to feast on next fall from interesting combinations of blue & red tweed to the classic black and gray. But when you want a break from separates dressing, Karl Lagerfeld spun-out some hip knits including tunic style black turtlenecks with exaggerated sleeves and mini dresses in grey and white. Eveningwear's main focus is on delicate chiffon styles with feminine touches like bows, thin belts and ribbon details but for tough girls there's a metallic leather shift. Lagerfeld also plays with the idea of longer lengths being worked into daytime with dusters and column skirts. There are very few pants in the collection.

Chanel Store

Canton Road shop opens in Tsim ShaTsui.

This Chanel boutique is of 4400 square foot. It has opened at 5 Canton road in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon. The 2-floor shop provides customers with the latest Chanel footwear, eyewear, handbags, watches and jewellery.

Special thing to attend to is that this store is one of the few to carry the new Les Exclusifs de Chanel perfume.

For this store, the target markets I regard are as follow:
1. Mature Women
2. Aged from 28-38
3. High-class citizens with high purchasing power
4. OLs with grand office wear for work
5. Ladies with evening gown for special events

I have an impression that the colour used in Chanel wears is not quite sharp and eye-catching. The colour tends to be soft and a little bit dull. This gives a feeling of eleglance but not exaggeration.

This is the chanel store at Ginza, Tokyo. The VM(Visual Merchandising) of this retail store is really attractive and pretty. VM is important in terms of retailing perspective. This VM demonstrates innovation elements for Chanel.

~ Fashion History: Hobble Skirts ~

As my teacher has briefly explain the hobble skirts to us, I have found some photoes and pictures of hobble skirts in the past. The past hobble skirts constrained the ladies' waists so tight! The skirts seemed like corsets. I think their waists will have bad growth and development when wearing this skirt from time to time. Quite horrible.

Nowadays, hobble skirt is also popular and famous. This is because hobble skirts can demonstrate the lady body shape completely. The lady wearing hobble skirt can show her femininity. Of course, current hobble skirts are different from the past ones as we can see from the waist of the lady.

~ Postmordernism: Brief Explanation ~

Postmodernism has a direct meaning of 'after the modernist movement'. While "modern" itself refers to something "related to the present", the movement of modernism and the following reaction of postmodernism are defined by a set of perspectives. It is used in critical theory to refer to a point of departure for works of literature, drama, architecture, cinema and design, as well as in marketing and business and the interpretation of history, law and culture in the late 20th century.

Postmodernism is an aesthetic, literary, political or social philosophy, which was the basis of the attempt to describe a condition, or a state of being, or something concerned with changes to institutions and conditions (as in Giddens, 1990) as postmodernity. In other words, postmodernism is the "cultural and intellectual phenomenon", especially since the 1920s' new movements in the arts, while postmodernity focuses on social and political outworkings and innovations globally, especially since the 1960s in the West.

I think postmodernism affects the culture nowsday when I read the above explanation. It is a condition, a concept and also a state. But it is quite difficult for me as I have no understanding and knowledge before. I even didn't hear the name. Now, I can a little understanding of it, but not good understanding. Maybe, I will learn in my subject later. I will read some books about it as well.

~Class Exercise No. 1~

The questions that I will ask the shoppers:

1. What colour(s) do you like in general?
2. What colour(s) do you like for your clothes?
3. What fashion brand(s) do you like?
4. Do you know what colour(s) the brand(s) you like would always use on the products?
5. May you give the order for the factors that you concern most when buying apparel: colour, style and textile?

~ Postmordernism: Video Clip ~

After reading the video about post-modernism, I just have a little understanding of it. Many questions appear in my mind. How has it affected our culture? Why does itt so important? How will it impact our future? What is the role of the Christian church in a post-modern world? Does human truly need God or is God merely a fairytale idea left-over from a past cultural experiment? I think I will search for more information from the internet and book.

~ ANTM: Cycle 4 Runway ~

This is the runway of Amerca's Next Top Model (ANTM) in cycle 4. It is special as it is the water runway that I have not seen before. The models have to walk on the water. The water splashes when models walk on it. This creates the great visual effect. The models there wearb the swimwear and evening gown, which have few fabrics to match with the water effect.

In fact, this is the the final challenge of two girls, Kahlen and Naima, competing for the winner of ANTM. Both competitors did well in the runway. Finally, the winner is Naima. But I like Kahlen more. She has potential to be a model and looks pretty.

~ Gucci: wallets ~

These are the GG monogram wallets of Gucci, which I always discover at the street. Quite a lot people possess one.

These are Gucci wallets with buckles, which I seldom see at the street. These are quite elegant for some mature ladies.

I like these two wallets. Frankly speaking, I really want to have one. This is beacause both are quite simple in design with a feature. For the left one, the Gucci logo with monogram background shows the classic style and simplicity. For the right one, the badge(insignia) is so cool and eye-catching. Great high end wallets!
